Maui Scenic Drives
Haleakala Highway, also known as Crater Road, is the two-lane road that leads to the summit of Haleakala. The highway has many switchbacks and offers spectacular views of Haleakala's "moonlike" scenery.
Also known as the back road to Hana, the Pi'ilani Highway (Hwy 31) leads along Mt. Haleakala's southern flank, from upcountry Ulupalakua to the small community of Kipahulu on Maui's east shore.
The Road to Hana is one of Maui's most popular scenic drives. Even though it is just 52 miles (84 km) long, it takes around three hours and is a challenging drive. There are about 620 curves and 59 bridges, 46 of which have just one lane.
Wailea Alanui Drive is a scenic road that connects the oceanfront resorts and beach parks in Wailea. The landscaping along the side of the road is nicely maintained (the area would otherwise look parched because it doesn't get much rain).
